Text 1343 against human trafficking

Published by rudy Date posted on March 11, 2013

ENTERTAINMENT Gateway Group Inc. (EGG), a subsidiary of Globe Telecom, together with the Commission on Filipinos Overseas (CFO) has come up with text-based 1343 Action Line Against Human Trafficking to combat the growing number of the said criminal activities in the country.

A landline version of the 24/7 hotline was established a year ago by CFO to give victims access to government and non-government operated protection services.

With the text hotline in place, the people are given more options to request for assistance, make inquiries and report suspected human trafficking activities.

In the US State Department’s Trafficking Report of 2010, the Philippines was identified as a source, destination, and transit country for people who are subjected to forced prostitution and forced labor, thus, prompting CFO to increase its efforts to curtail the illegal practice.

Text-based 1343 Action Line is available to all Globe and TM mobile subscribers. –Cebu Daily News
