MANILA, Philippines — Two boys’ choirs have once again proved to the world the Filipinos’ innate musicality when they bested peers from more than 30 countries at the 5th World Choir Games in Graz City, Austria, according to the Philippine embassy there.
The Las Piñas Boys’ Choir and the Kilyawan Boys’ Choir in Quezon City were declared Champions of Children’s Choirs and Choral Acapella Performers of Contemporary Music, respectively, on Sunday, July 13, during the awarding ceremonies of the choral Olympiad, Philippine Ambassador to Austria Linglingay Lacanlale said in an e-mail.
Lacanlale lauded the young performers “for bringing glory to the Philippines with their talents and testifying to the musical artistry of the Filipinos in the prestigious international competition.”
The two performing groups competed with numerous groups from South Africa, Indonesia, Japan, China, Russia, Spain, Germany, United States, and the United Kingdom, in a series of competitions in their categories. –Veronica Uy, INQUIRER.net
