MANILA, Philippines—Children and parents from anti-child pornography groups gave white roses to lawmakers to press for the passage of a law against child pornography.

The Anti-Child Pornography Alliance (ACPA) and Akap-Bata Philippines said it was the moral obligation of the state to safeguard children against all forms of abuse and exploitation.

“The passage of an anti-child porn law will not just secure the future generation of our country but will further assure parents as well for the comfort and holistic growth of their children,” said Arlene Brosas, executive director of Akap-Bata Philippines and spokesperson of ACPA.

Brosas challenged the House of representatives to pass a counterpart bill against child pornography to the one passed in the Senate, which was authored by Senator Maria Ana Consuelo Madrigal.

The groups said the measure should be passed before the school year opens in June.–Erika Tapalla, INQUIRER.net
