MANILA, Philippines – The government is re-opening its door for the hiring of new workers despite the planned rationalization program, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) reported yesterday.

Criselda Sy, DOLE’s Bureau of Local and Employment (BLE) director, said at least 5,000 permanent positions in various government agencies are open for civil service eligible workers at this time.

Aside from the unfilled plantilla positions, Sy also said that the government is providing more than 45,000 emergency employment for displaced workers and other job seekers.  – Mayen Jaymalin, Philippine Star
