The European Chamber of Commerce of the Philippines (ECCP) tapped its European IT Service Center Foundation (EITSC) to open a Dual Training System (DTS) program by entering into a new set of public-private partnership.

EITSC executive director Dominic Sabado said with the European Union and the Hanns Seidel Foundation of Germany, ECCP is funding a DTS program that involves the University of Makati (UMak) and offshore call center heavyweight Rainmaker Asia.

Under a project dubbed “Establishment of Market-driven and Technology-based Courses and Further Training for the Information Technology Sector in the National Capital Region, Philippines,” the DTS program involves the integration of a competency standard, competency-based curriculum, 53 learning packages, and a competency assessment instrument for contact center servicing.

“The EITSC believes that to address the global demand for services, talent must be developed. The government, private sector, and the academe must join hands to combat the country’s current human resource challenges. The employment mismatch is not because of the lack of opportunities but is the product of the unavailability of qualified talents,” Sabado said.

The DTS program is part of the EITSC’s five-year human capacity building project that started in 2004 and is aimed at improving the employability of high school and college graduates in the country. –Ayen Infante, Daily Tribune
