Coca-Cola Cebu management, union ink three-year CBA

CEBU, Philippines – The management and rank and file employees of Coca-Cola Philippines-Cebu Plant inked a three-year Collective Bargaining Agreement yesterday.

“Thank you for the openness and for the trust in the company that we are working for,” Anna-Mari Trasmonte, Coca-Cola Cebu Plant Human Resource Manager, said.

Marcelino Santiago, Coca-Cola HR Manager for Region 7, said the signing was a very significant event as it further strengthened the harmonious relationship between management and labor.

Luis Ruiz, president of the Royal Plant Workers Union, said his fellow union members are also grateful of the new CBA. He said the company can be assured of continued support from the union.

The CBA will be implemented at a retroactive mode beginning February 1, 2009 wherein daily-paid employees will receive a salary increase of P30 per day and a lump sum amount equivalent to P35,000.

The following year, a salary increase of P45 per day will be implemented and on the third year, another increase will be implemented at P45 per day.

For monthly paid non-commission earning employees, a salary increase of P900 per month and a lump sum amount equivalent to P35,000 effective February 2009.

On the second year, those with “exceptional performance” will receive P1,500 per month, those with “successful performance” P1,400 per month, and those with “developing performance” will receive P900 per month.

On the third year, those with “exceptional performance” with receive P1,600 per month, those with “successful performance” will receive P1,500 per month, while those with “developing performance” will receive P1,000 per month.

The CBA also grants several other benefits including a monthly rice ration, health and welfare program, and a retirement and death benefit plan, among others. — Mitchelle L. Palaubsanon/JMO   (THE FREEMAN)
