MANILA, Philippines—Prospective overseas Filipino workers may now take the required pre-employment orientation seminars in any SM mall nationwide following Monday’s signing of a memorandum of agreement between Labor Secretary Marianito Roque and SM Malls executive Teresita Sy-Coson.
The seminar “is the main public education tool of the POEA to inform the public on the realities–the good and the bad—of overseas employment,” said Deputy Administrator Hans Cacdac of the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration.
Under the agreement, SM branches will have OFW lounges and kiosks where, among others, the general public could have access to the POEA database of licensed recruiters.
“In the future, we hope to have OFW registration and balik-manggagawa (returning workers) services available in the said lounges and kiosks,” Cacdac said. –INQUIRER.net
