Firm faces raps for construction mishap

MANILA, PHilippines – A construction company will face charges after the second floor of a building under construction in Barangay San Jose, Quezon City collapsed Monday afternoon, killing a worker and injuring nine others.

Police Officer 3 George Maramag of the Quezon City Police District said they will file charges of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide and multiple slight physical injuries against RMAX Builders.

Maramag said they have in custody company architect Richard Chua, 33, who underwent inquest proceedings yesterday morning. “It would be up to the prosecutor what to do with the case,” he said.

Construction worker Alvin Ramos died on the way to the hospital while his co-workers Roel Padelonio, Marlon Briones, Aldrin Lodor, Bryan Briones, Manolito Serrano, Arnel Ramos, Philip Marbilla, Beaver Bogtay and Christopher Nevado were injured during the collapse. – Reinir Padua, Philippine Star
