A man who admitted killing his 59-year-old employer voluntarily surrendered last Tuesday night to policemen assigned to the Plaza Miranda Police Community Precinct last Tuesday night in Quiapo, Manila carrying the head of his victim.
Chief Insp. Erwin Margarejo, chief of the Manila Police District homicide section, identified the suspect as Srejan Sia, 23, stay-in helper at Bernadette Eatery located at 501 San Rafael St., Quiapo.
The victim was identified as Jimmy Preston 59, married, store caretaker of the eatery, who was beheaded.
Case officer PO2 Joseph Kabigting of the homicide section said the suspect walked in at the community precinct and surrendered to the duty police officers the head of his employer placed in a plastic bag.
Senior Insp. Rodolfo Samoranos, Plaza Miranda PCP commander, said the suspect admitted to him the head belonged to Preston. He also admitted he brutally killed the victim.
The suspect told the lawmen the body of the victim was at his residence.
When checked, the lawmen were shocked to see the bloated body of the victim and his penis and ears cut off.
The headless body of the victim was found inside the comfort room wrapped with plastic improvised bath tub. Police recovered two bladed weapons and a hammer believed used in the gruesome murder of the victim.
At the homicide section detention cell, Sia, who was speaking in English and visibly restless, told reporters in an interview that he killed his employer because he was not receiving his salary for two weeks.
“I killed him because he didn’t give my salary for two weeks,” the suspect said inside his detention cell.
Sia narrated prior to Preston’s death, he was asking for his salary but the victim refused, resulting in a heated argument.
He said he first hit Preston in the head with a wooden stick (arnis) then decided to cut off his penis, ears and head using a jungle bolo.
“I cut his dick and ears because I want them to blame the dogs,” he added.
But later he decided to surrender the head of the victim to authorities.
“I don’t know where to bury him so I surrender his head,” the suspect also said.
Several relatives of the victim told police investigators several personal belongings and undetermined amount of cash of the victim were missing.
Authorities said they are also investigating earlier reports that the victim was the alleged gay boyfriend of the suspect.
