Over 5,000 members of the TUCP and their families had been laid off as of October 10, 2009 due to closure of factories damaged by the typhoon. A series of relief and medical missions are held as TUCP’s contribution to help affected workers and their families pick up the pieces after the devastation.

The operation is supported by the International Trade Union Confederation-Asia Pacific (ITUC-AP) and the Japanese Trade Union Confederation (JTUC-RENGO).
