American collared for abusing partner

BUTUAN CITY , Philippines  – For allegedly calling his Filipina live-in-partner “prostitute, thief and a liar,” an American national was arrested by Surigao City police on Tuesday morning after complaints of violation of RA 9262 otherwise known as Anti-Violence law Against Women and Children was filed against the American.

Caraga Police Regional Information Office identified the American as Garry Lee Hardin, 54, and a resident of 1655 Fox Hollow CV Southaven, Mississippi, USA and presently renting an apartment at A.M. Mortiz Street, Surigao City.

The victim Evangeline Benedicto Dominguez, 35, resident of Purok 3, Barangay Billar, Surigao City complained that every time she failed to do routinary work such as giving the American body massage and “hot bath,” he would shout at her, to quote, “You are thief, liar and prostitute.”

Police said inquest proceedings for violation of RA 9262 has been filed against Hardin at the City Prosecutor’s Office, Surigao City docketed under I.S number NPS-XIII05-INQ-09K-00271. – Ben Serrano, Philippine Star
