Forecast 2010

The vibration in the air indicates the completion of many events. They are at hand. The completion will bring many changes in our lives and can affect the whole system of living in this constantly changing world of ours. — AVV110

Many are not that optimistic for the coming year, although a national election will be held and the changing of leaders is a promising prospect. Hope of a change for the better, however, is not seen, if not long gone.

Weather changes are expected in 2010, but now these will be different from what people are preparing for. Last year, I predicted water; now I predict fire will rule the earth. The destruction will be great, and it will happen faster than the kind of damage we experienced with rains and floods.

Death is foreseen among many common people as well as famous people — the “completion” may mean an end of so many things for them. Young and old alike will face their Creator at last. Some will be in single travels and others will be in groups, meaning accidents and war will occur.

THE PHILIPPINES

Our country will face so many changes this year. For me, change brings new things, but it also brings anxiety. Fear of facing the new and the uncertainties it breeds gives rise to uncomfortable feelings in many people. For some, it brings hope, seeing opportunities in change, but, of course, it also brings the end to so many existing matters.

The Philippines will face many difficulties with which we may have a hard time coping. The drama that the media use to get help for disaster victims will die down. Others who use this drive as a money-making vehicle will now feel the end of their wrongdoing. The people who usually extend help will now realize that there is a better way or process of helping. The role of the people is slowly going to be emphasized on “who should do the helping” and who should not.

Several eruptions of volcanoes will happen in our country — some will be minor and some, major eruptions. Displacements will be great in terms of number in people’s lives. But again, these events are natural cycles of our earth, to replenish it with fresh and rich minerals.

THE WORLD

When we talk about the world, the major players are the USA, the European countries, China, the Middle East and all rich nations. A sad note, but the economic slump of several countries will continue. The effect of the adjustments done by their leaders will not be felt by their people, and so restlessness and chaos will abound in many of these First World countries. Being rich is not actually an advantage in this ever changing world. It is the resiliency that Filipinos possess that makes us one great and unique nation.

Weather changes and storms that other nations never experienced before will now be present and for the first time in their land will be experienced by them. The worst part is, they are not ready for these kinds of disasters, unlike the Philippines and the Filipinos. War will be imminent for two power countries, but the actual confrontation will happen around one and half years later, even after all efforts to meet and agree on the table have been exerted.

POLITICS

ELECTION. The chances of having none is great. If ever it pushes through, this will be one of the worst elections we will ever have for its non-orderliness. The teachers/election workers themselves will be at a loss on what to do and not to do.

GMA.
Again, she was made to lead for life and that is what she believes. Actually, nobody in the midst of our political arena is ready to face her “mano-for-mano” in terms of what they can offer to be in power. She can give it all just to stay in power. Is she good then? For her personal ambitions, she’s really damn good. She possesses the power to stay in power; nobody can beat that.

NOYNOY. The weakest but the strongest. He is the weakest personality, but the strongest in the numbers game. The mob syndrome is one character of Filipinos that will bring Noynoy the leadership. But the truth is, he will have a hard time running this country — harder than his mother had experienced. His record in public service tells us how he would be as a leader.

GIBO. The strongest, but in the wrong boat. He will lose not because he is not a presidential material, but his political vehicle is a sinking one. Repairing the ship in the middle of the storm is not advisable. Only one solution: jump or abandon ship, but again, it is rather too late. Jumping in the turbulent sea of a political battle is suicide indeed.

EDDIE VILLANUEVA. Religion is not a unifying factor. They themselves fight for the membership or flock that will be with them in heaven. So they create that much number of enemies as they create that same number of followers. Winning is not equationally possible.

GORDON. He will beg off the race soon.

ERAP. He, too, will beg off for some reason. His time has passed.

SHOWBIZ

Death will haunt the showbiz world. The death of one of the kings of Philippine cinema will happen by the start of the year, within the first quarter. The showbiz world will be affected by eight deaths of popular personalities within their circle.

The continuing decline of quality stars and projects will be experienced by the movie industry as the industry itself will be affected by the ever-changing needs and preferences of movie fanatics.

Marriage will be lesser but living-in among couples of younger stars will be acceptable to society, which will be followed by the public in their personal lives.

Many artists will go broke that many of them will be in the flesh trade openly, unlike before when there was some discretion.

WEATHER

Want snow? By March, snow will fall in Manila. I am not sure about this, but the vision tells me a lot of snow falling atop our homes. Ash fall maybe a probable scenario, but definitely a scenario of fine white substances will be falling from the skies come the day of March.

Rain will be less, but volcanoes will be active in 2010. Fire and heat are the main destructive elements that we will face next year. So our food baskets will not be filled up to sustain our needs. Expect high prices of commodities.

Fire will wreak havoc in several communities. Be careful of flammable materials and combustible items. Deaths and damages to properties will reach a record high.

PACQUIAO

The ending of his reign is coming. Mayweather or even whoever will be his opponent will succeed in defeating him. In every aspect, Manny Pacquiao must learn to accept the reality that “whatever goes up must come down.” This is the year to go down.

In politics, he will not be that successful. He must listen to the voices of those who truly care for him and refuse the wolves in disguise that are constantly surrounding him.

Year 2010 will bring so many changes. Those who depend on the comfort that their present life brings will have a hard time. Those who are ready to face the reality of constant change will have new hope and life. –Anthony Vivero, daily Tribune
