The latest result of the online survey in Facebook that showed Gilbert “Gibo” Teodoro leading over the other presidential contenders in the May elections bolsters his camp’s claim that the Lakas-Kampi CMD standard-bearer continues to dominate the cyberspace surveys.
Voting results for Round 8 of “Election 2010” in the social networking site had Teodoro maintaining his lead with 34.17 percent of the votes.
Teodoro was followed by Bother Eddie Villanueva with 30.92 percent, Sen. Richard Gordon with 17.80 percent and Sen. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino 3rd with 12.04 percent.
Round No. 8 started on January 5.
Teodoro surged to the top of the rankings during Round 5 where he gained 46.07 percent of the total 2,062 votes and Aquino had 20.85 percent.
Besides Facebook, the former Defense chief also defeated other candidates in other mock polls conducted by various media outfits, including Manila Standard Today and the Manila Bulletin.
Teodoro, who has been consistently improving his ratings in most opinion surveys, has emerged as the presidential candidate of choice of the youth bloc.
He is scheduled to tour schools and appear in town-hall political gatherings today together with Manila mayoralty bet Avelino “Sonny” Razon.
Teodoro and Razon will visit the Technological University of Philippines and the Eulogio Amang Rodriguez Institute of Science and Technology.
In between visits and dialogues with students, Teodoro will face Manila residents, officers of city-based nongovernment organizations, political leaders and candidates belonging to Razon’s slate and community leaders at a town-hall type forum at the Golden Dragon Restaurant at T.M. Kalaw Street.
Razon and Teodoro share common views on primary issues such as peace and order, efficient delivery of basic services, graft and corruption, transparency and accountability in government, people empowerment and participative democracy.
The former national-police chief and the former Defense chief, who have worked closely before in running various anti-criminality and counterinsurgency campaigns, are also enjoying increasing popularity among youth voters and professionals. –Jefferson Antiporda and Ruben D.
