5 workers die in Cebu mall collapse

MANILA, Philippines – Five construction workers were killed and 6 others were injured after parts of a new mall in Cebu City collapsed before dawn Wednesday.

An initial report said the roof beam and the fire wall of the Gaisano Capital mall in Barangay Tisa collapsed around 1 a.m.

Police said the fatalities and the injured victims were workers of CYC Construction. They said there were at least 27 workers inside the mall at the time of the collapse. – Report from Rico Lucena, ABS-CBN Cebu
