Elderly Pinay wins $120K settlement from K-MART

HONOLULU, Hawaii – The US Equal Employment Opportunity Commission has ordered K-Mart to pay a 73-year-old former Pinay employee US$120,000 in damages.

Conchita Cachero’s lawsuit claimed that on several occasions, her manager at K-Mart pressured her to retire, saying she was too old and greedy for working at 70 years old.

According to the website KITV.com, Cachero worked at the K-Mart pharmacy in Iwilei.

The Commission said Cachero’s supervisor harassed her about her age and pressured her to retire. The supervisor even scheduled her to work on Sunday so she missed church services. –abs-cbnNEWS.com, Balitang America
