Fire hits garments factory in Valenzuela

MANILA, Philippines—Fire hit a three-story garment factory in Valenzuela City early Thursday, authorities said.

Employees of Jonel’s Middlecraft Garments in Oreta Subdivision, Maysan were roused from their sleep by a fire that started in the second floor of their office building where the production area is located.

No casualties were reported, said F01 John Noel Sentillas of the Bureau of Fire Protection-Valenzuela, but damages were estimated at around P1 million. –Beverly T. Natividad, Philippine Daily Inquirer
