4 dead, 6 hurt in firecracker factory blast

ILOILO CITY , Philippines  – An investigation is underway into the cause of an explosion in a firecracker factory in Arevalo district here last Sunday afternoon that left four people, including the factory owner, dead and six others injured.

“We cannot conclude yet what triggered the stack of firecrackers to explode prematurely,” said Chief Inspector Rodolfo Denaga, city fire marshal.

The explosion also destroyed two houses and damaged five others in Barangay Mohon. –Ronilo Ladrido Pamonag (The Philippine Star)
