MANILA, Philippines – Employees of the Bureau of Customs assigned at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport may soon get their overtime pay after five years of waiting.

Last June 1, the Office of the Solicitor General ordered the Board of Airline Representatives (BAR) to pay BOC employees P1,217,816,647.77 representing unpaid overtime pay from March 16, 2005 to May 15, 2010.

The Court of Appeals ruled last May 12 that BAR and its member airlines must pay overtime and other allowances to the Customs employees as provided in Customs Administrative Order 7-1992, as amended by CAO 1-S-2005.

Payment of overtime to Customs personnel at NAIA was the subject of a long court battle between BOC and BAR.  –Rudy Santos (The Philippine Star)
