MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) yesterday announced a million Filipino families have received cash assistance from its Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps).

DSWD said the government’s cash transfer program provided health and education grants to the poor households in 733 cities and municipalities nationwide.

The welfare agency said the program produced increased enrollment in elementary and high school, and improved access to health services.

DSWD had received a presidential citation from President Arroyo for its contribution to the program.  –Helen Flores (The Philippine Star)
