Factory blast hurts 2 workers

BOCAUE, Bulacan – Two workers were injured and rushed to a hospital in Quezon City when a fireworks factory exploded in Barangay Biniang 1st, this town, last Friday afternoon. Supt. Ronald F. De Jesus, town police chief, in his report to Senior Supt. Fernando S. Villanueva, Bulacan police director, identified the victims as Romulo Caballero and Romeo Non. Investigators said that the explosion happened at the Angelus Fireworks Factory owned by a certain Asuncion Dizon, located on Daang Bakal Street in Biniang 1st. Probers said a stock of ammonium chlorate and sulphur powder that had been wet due to recent rains had a chemical reaction that led to the explosion. (Freddie C. Velez)
