6 laborers pinned to death by collapsed wall in Laguna

MANILA, Philippines – Six workers were killed after a wall fell on them in Laguna at early dawn today during the onslaught of tropical storm “Basyang.”

Police identified the victims as Raymond Tamayo, 22; Bernardo Tamayo, 32; and Romeo de Vera, 57. The victims were brought to the Sta. Rosa Community Hospital but physicians could not revive them.

Meanwhile, construction workers Federico Caringal, 52; Alfredo Ventura, 39; and Nelson Solomon,19, died instantly after being pinned by the collapsed wall.

Initial report said the concrete wall being constructed by CCMC located on East Ave., Laguna Tech in Brgy. La Loma, Binan City, gave in due to strong winds around 2:30 a.m.

Authorities are coordinating with the construction company regarding the incident. – By Dennis Carcamo (Philstar News Service, www.philstar.com)
