MANILA, Philippines—Hacienda Luisita Inc. (HLI) on Monday said that almost 70 percent of its farm workers (7,302 out of 10,502) have availed of a stock distribution option as a “quick remedy” to the long-drawn-out legal battle over the controversial land.

A census from Friday, August 6, until Sunday, August 8, had 70 percent or 7,441 of workers signing a compromise agreement with HLI.

Out of those who signed the compromise agreement, 7,302 preferred the stock distribution option and 139 voted for land distribution. –Riza T. Olchondra, Philippine Daily Inquirer
