9 families evacuate homes due to smell from Valenzuela warehouse

Published by rudy Date posted on August 4, 2010

At least nine families were forced to flee their homes in Valenzuela City Tuesday night due to a foul smell from an onion storehouse in the area.

Radio dzBB reported Wednesday Luis Jacinto, executive officer of Canumay village, said residents started complaining of the bad smell at 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Jacinto said the residents complained of dizzy spells and chest pains, and fled to the barangay hall, but returned to their homes after a few hours.

He said it was possible the bad smell came from ammonia stored in the warehouse.

Initial investigation showed the smell came from the warehouse at M. Gregorio Street. Local authorities are still investigating the matter. — LBG, GMANews.TV
