A suspected chemical leak from a construction site downed a teacher and 14 students of a high school in Iloilo City Monday afternoon.

Radio dzBB’s Iloilo affiliate reported Tuesday the incident occurred at the Colegio de San Jose in Jaro district at about 1 p.m.

The report said some of the students lost consciousness due to the foul smell.

City officials have started an investigation on the incident, which was initially traced to a construction site near the school.

As of Tuesday morning, the students had recovered and were allowed to go home, the report said.

On the other hand, the report said the school’s management is studying the possibility of filing charges against the construction site owner. — LBG/RSJ, GMANews.TV
