MANILA, Philippines – The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) has set up an online job search system to enable prematurely terminated Filipino household helpers and other workers in Hong Kong to find new employment.

Labor Secretary Rosalinda Baldoz said Internet-based job search system was initially launched in Hong Kong but will also be put up in other countries employing Filipinos.

“With the site, household workers who are still employed and those who have finished their contracts, as well as those whose contracts were prematurely terminated, can submit their biodata (via) the Internet,” she said.

Under the Aquino administration, Baldoz said the DOLE is initiating programs that would make government services more accessible and efficient to all workers here and abroad.

According to Baldoz, Filipino household workers and other skilled workers in Hong Kong may access the website www.polohkjobseekers.org to register for free.

She also assured Filipino workers that the information they provide would only be accessible to placement agencies accredited by the Philippine Overseas Labor Office (POLO). The agencies will contact the applicants once they already have possible employers for them.

“The system can only be used while the applicant still has a valid visa to stay in Hong Kong,” Baldoz said. –Mayen Jaymalin (The Philippine Star)
