BACOLOD City, Philippines  — Bacolod City made it to the list of Tholons’ Top 100 Outsourcing Cities for 2010, said Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, chairperson of the Bacolod-Negros Occidental Federation for Information and Communications Technology or BNeFIT.

“The announcement was made during the GlobalShore Webinar Series attended by ICT stakeholders from different countries all over the world,” said Sigue, who is also chairman of the National ICT Confederation of the Philippines (NICP).

Tholons is a leading full-service strategic advisory firm for global outsourcing
and investments. GlobalShore 2010 is a “webinar” series on the dynamics of outsourcing locations meant for sourcing practitioners and service providers to be able to make right decisions in choosing service delivery locations.

Tholons’ ranking of outsourcing cities around the world (previously called Top 50 Emerging Outsourcing Cities) has been expanded to Top 100 Outsourcing Cities in its fifth edition in 2010.

For this year, the list of Top 100 Cities is broken down further to Top 10 Emerged Cities (ranks 1 to 10), Top 50 Emerging Cities (ranks 11 to 60) and Top 40 Next Wave or Aspiring Cities (ranks 61-100).

For the Top 10 Emerged Cities, Manila clinched the fourth spot, after Bangalore, Mumbai and Delhi, while Cebu landed ninth.

For the next wave or aspiring cities, Davao was ranked 69th; Sta. Rosa, Laguna was 28th; Iloilo was ranked 88th and Bacolod ranked 100th.

Sigue said this recent achievement of Bacolod is a positive prelude to the city’s hosting of the 3rd National ICT Summit on Nov. 25-26. It is organized by the NICP, Commission on Information and Communications Technology (CICT) and BNeFIT. –(The Philippine Star)
