BPO firms need 20,000 new hires for daytime shift

MANILA, Philippines – The business process outsourcing industry has 20,000 vacancies to qualified applicants who will work on a day shift.

While 80% of the local service firms’ clients are based in the US–thus graveyard shift of voice and non-voice agents is still prevalent–the industry is expanding to other markets, such as Australia, Singapore, London, among others. The time zone in these countries approximate ours.

BPOs who have Australian or Asia Pacific clients will need to fill vacancies for the shift, which starts at 6am and ends at 3.pm.

Those who have European clients, on the other hand, will need employees who will work the 2pm to 11pm shift.

Industry association president Oscar Sañez explained this set up will help companies maximize their office space and equipment for most parts of the day.

The day-shifters, however, will earn about 15% less than their counterparts in the graveyard shift due to their night differential pay. –abs-cbnNEWS.com
