MANILA, Philippines – Two fast-food restaurant employees died after their motorcycle was allegedly hit by a 10-wheeler truck in San Mateo, Rizal, before dawn Friday.

Police identified the fatalities as Mark Anthony Lipada, 21, and Kenneth Makiramdam, employees of a Jollibee fast-food restaurant.

The 2 victims were on board a motorcycle with another female Jollibee employee when the accident happened along General Luna Street, Barangay Banaba around 3:35 a.m..

Police Officer Julynos Guillano, San Mateo police investigator, said they received reports that a 10-wheeler truck bumped the victims’ motorcycle.

A barangay officer said witnesses were not able to take note of the truck’s complete license plate number. He said they only got TGT-94 and police were still verifying the complete plate number.

Guillano said that aside from the hit-and-run angle, it is also possible that the incident was caused by one of the riders.

He said they noticed that one of the victim’s jacket was jammed in the motorcycle’s chain, which could have caused the accident. – Report from Dennis Datu, radio dzMM
