Three hundred female out of school youth from Cebu were granted Information and Communications Technology (ICT) vocational training in a deal signed between Cebu Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA), the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (Tesda) and Informatics Philippines.
The scholars may take either a call center or a computer hardware course.
Informatics will provide facilities for education and make graduates available for assessment.
Tesda has agreed to provide 50 percent financial assistance from their Training for Work Scholarship Program, while PEZA agreed to handle the remaining 50 percent under their Gender and Development Program.
PEZA is also tasked to identify candidates suitable for training and recommend successful graduates to accredited ICT companies for employment. –Cebu Daily News
