DAVAO CITY — The World Bank is encouraging local government units (LGUs) to propose ‘big ticket’ projects for funding under the current second phase of the Mindanao Rural Development Program (MRDP), a statement here said.

The statement quoted Felizardo K. Virtucio, Jr., operations officer of the Bank in the country, as saying that LGUs with good governance track records should take advantage of the program.

He told officials of the Department of Agriculture, which implements MRDP, to persuade LGUs to come up with projects with wide impact that need at least P5 million for implementation. — CQF, BUsinessworld
