MANILA, Philippines –  Local celebrities came together in a campaign against mercury-containing thermometers and sphygmomanometers in the market.

Health Care Without Harm-Southeast Asia (HCWH-SEA) is running a series of advertisements dubbed “Artists unite for mercury phase-out in health care.”

Celebrities featured in the ad are actor Albert Martinez, TV hosts Suzi Abrera and Judah Paolo, Survivor Philippines Palau’s Shaun Rodriguez, tattoo artist Gene Testa, radio jockey Papa Dudut, and visual artist Kabunyan de Guia.

“We know the power that celebrities, artists and known personalities have in influencing people’s opinion, thus we are grateful for these artists who have enlisted their support for mercury phase out,” said Faye Ferrer, the group’s program officer for Mercury in Health Care. –Mayen Jaymalin (The Philippine Star)
