MANILA, Philippines—A construction worker fell to his death while working from the third floor of a townhouse being constructed in Quezon City on Saturday afternoon, a police report said.

Police Officer 3 Randy Bantillo of the Quezon City Police District identified the victim as Reflen Logatoc, 31, who sustained a fatal skull fracture from the fall.

Bantillo said the victim was cutting wire when he slipped and lost his balance and fell head first on the ground floor.

Police said the accident took place around 1 p.m. at the Dorothy Townhomes located at the corner of Kalayaan and K-1 Streets in Kamias.

Based on investigation, police said the construction site did not have any safety measures.

“There was no net in case of an accident and the workers were not wearing hard hats as standard procedure,’’ the policeman said.

He added that Logatoc was still alive when he was rushed by co-workers to the East Avenue Medical Center, but eventually succumbed to his injuries and died around 11:10 p.m. Saturday.

Based on the statement of the victim’s co-workers, he was preparing wooden beams when he lost his balance. –Nancy C. Carvajal, Philippine Daily Inquirer
