RH bill, trying hard copycat

Published by rudy Date posted on May 27, 2011

THE Reproductive Health and Responsible Parenthood bill is a second-rate, trying hard, copy cat—that is as far is Rep. Roilo Golez of Parañaque is concerned.

Golez noted that the provisions of the controversial RH/RP bill aiming to protect the health of women are already provided in the existing Magna Carta for women.

Golez specifically cited that the RH provides elimination of violence against women, education and counseling on sexuality and reproductive health, treatment of breast and reproductive tract cancers and other gynecological conditions and disorders, and male responsibility and participation in reproductive health treatment of infertility and sexual dysfunction.

The Magna Carta for Women, on the other hand, provides addressing cases of violence against women, information and education on person’s sexuality and human dignity, prevention and management of reproductive tract cancers like breast and cervical cancers and other gynecological conditions and disorders and prevention management on infertility and sexual dysfunction.

”The passage of the RH/RP bill is not needed anymore. We have no need for this because this is hijacking, like repacking something and making it appear as if it is your own when it is not,” the Parañaque lawmaker said during his interpellation of the divisive measure before the plenary late Wednesday. –LLANESCA T.
