9 hurt in cargo ship explosion in CamSur

MANILA, Philippines – Nine people were hurt when a cargo vessel exploded and caught fire near an oil depot off Ragay Gulf in Pasacao, Camarines Sur late Wednesday evening.

Intial reports said MV STC Jeffrey Roy’s engine sparked and went on fire at around 11 p.m..

Report added that said vessel was on its way to deliver some 50 drums of crude oil at a gasoline station in Simbuyan Island, Romblon, before the explosion.

The victims were identified as:

Nathan Balbona, 53, STC Jeffrey Roy’s captain
Jesmar Ragot, 24
Reynel Napol, 26
Erasmo Rosero, 53
Rolly Mangarin, 23
Dennis Mangarin, 34
Joebert Mangarin, 24 and
Noe Maalipay, 51
