Globe Telecom was named one of the top five Philippine companies by international research and advisory firm RepuTex for outstanding sustainability initiatives and corporate governance policies.

Globe is the only company in the field of wireless telecommunication services which qualified for the citation. In the Philippines, Globe joins 13 other companies in the top list, which also included fellow Ayala conglomerates Bank of the Philippine Islands, Ayala Corporation, and Ayala Land. Other countries who were part of the study were China, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Korea, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan and Thailand.

RepuTex launched the RepuTex Environment, Social and Government (ESG) Data Service that rates the ESG performance of listed companies in Asia. The data service currently covers 1,100 companies, using analytics that measure the performance of Asian companies in four categories: Corporate Governance, Environmental Impact (including carbon & water), Social Impact and Workplace Practices. Under each category, RepuTex provides quantitative performance information against over 120 indicators.

The service also analyzes companies’ preparedness to manage new risks attached to corruption, remuneration, health and safety, environmental compliance, and greenhouse gas emissions. According to RepuTex, these factors are becoming increasingly important to asset managers and re-insurance companies, as well as Asian companies themselves.

“We are very pleased with this newest citation from RepuTex. As an organization, we ensure that our initiatives have long-lasting positive impact to our stakeholders and society as a whole. To be a strong challenger brand and truly set us apart from competition, we continue to integrate sustainability into our strategy and business operations, guided by our governance policies,” Globe president Ernest Cu said. –Daily Tribune
