Saudization

Saudi Arabia has started to ban vacationing OFWs from reentering the country. According to Migrante International, outgoing workers’ passports are being stamped with a “Final Exit” mark. Many countries including China have adopted a policy of prioritizing local citizens in hiring workers.

The necessary question, why are we so lax in allowing Chinese, Koreans, Africans and even Americans to work here, many of them without immigration permits? This situation calls for a policy review.

Take Fontana and other foreign owned casinos. Many foreigners are working there including menial jobs as waitresses or construction workers. At one time, 500 Chinese laborers were working at Fontana in Angeles City but the Bureau of Immigration backed off when an influential Congressman intervened.–Ernesto M. Maceda (The Philippine Star)
