At least three construction workers were reported dead while two others are still being treated in the hospital due to suffocation while they were inside a septic tank in Batangas yesterday.

The fatalities were identified as Romulo Fernandez, Nardito Igloso and Ronald Alimbo.

Treated in a hospital were Tarciso Ondoy and Glenard Igloso.

Investigation showed that the incident took place at 8:30 a.m., inside the compound of a technology center in Santiago Village, Malvar town, Batangas.

According to Malvar police chief Senior Insp. Gaudencio Aguilera, the victims went inside the septic tank, which is about three-meter deep, and got suffocated.

Aguilera, however, said that police investigators are still conducting a thorough investigation to determine the real cause of their death.

“Hindi pa naman kasi official ang report natin kasi hindi pa tapos ang findings sa mga examination na ginawa,” Aguilera added. –Gina Peralta-Elorde, Daily Tribune
