The Philippines moved up in “global competitiveness,” as it now ranks 75th worldwide in the recently-released Global Competitiveness Index, moving up 10 places from last year overtaking countries like Romania, Egypt, and Greece.
Although there is a significant improvement, the Philippines is still lagging behind most of its ASEAN neighbors such as Malaysia, Singapore, and Vietnam.
Among the categories that need to be improved on are labor market efficiency, technological readiness, and innovation.
Philippine Society for Quality Trustee Benel Pilar said, “Improving the quality of life of our countrymen should be the aim of everyone and this can be achieved by making our business enterprises more competitive in the international market, thus increasing employment opportunities”.
One way of enhancing an organization’s competitiveness is to learn from best in class companies and consultants who have varied experiences in driving organizational efficiency and effectiveness.
National Quality Forum
From September 15 to 16, the 23rd National Quality Forum (NQF) with the theme “Uniting the Voices of Quality” will be held at at the EDSA Shangri-la Hotel.
The NQF will gather industry experts to share their best practices and insights relating to operational excellence and the different voices of quality.
The keynote speakers will be the Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines VP Jejomar Binay who will talk about Operational Excellence in the Government.
On the other hand, the President of the Asia Pacific Quality Organization Mr. Shan Rupra who will speak about the different voices of quality.
