MANILA, Philippines – The Bureau of Immigration (BI) recently arrested eight Chinese men for allegedly working in mining sites without work permits.

BI Commissioner Ricardo David Jr. said BI intelligence operatives arrested Xue Guanghu, Enqing Xie, Lou Zheng Nan, Hong Bing Yin, Dong Chunhui, Li Shaohua, Zuang Guangyu, and Mo Jiacheng while working at Yinshu Mining Corp. and Din Shing Mining Inc. in Barangay Caradapan in Eastern Samar.

BI acting intelligence chief Ma. Antonette Mangrobang said the operation was conducted after weeks of surveillance of the workers in the two mining firms.

Mangrobang assured the public that the BI would step up its operations against illegal aliens, especially those based in the provinces.

The BI also encouraged the public to report suspicious-looking foreigners in their localities so they could verify their status. –Evelyn Macairan The Philippine Star
