Youth body forms students’complaints desk

Published by rudy Date posted on March 13, 2012

MANILA, Philippines – The National Youth Commission (NYC) launched yesterday a desk to address students’ complaints.

High school and college students, as well as those taking up technical and vocational courses, may file their complaints with the Students’ Rights And Welfare Desk, through the website www.strawdesk.com.

“Ultimately the goal of this program is for schools to uphold the rights and promote students’ welfare,” NYC undersecretary Leon Flores III said.

Flores expressed alarm at abuses of students’ rights, such as tuition hikes; fraternity-related violence; security lapses; the “no permit, no exam” policy; and discrimination.

The NYC aims to resolve complaints in three months. Student complainants could check the status of their case on the website to see its progress. –Reinir Padua The Philippine Star
