MAASIN CITY, Southern Leyte, May 23 (PIA) — As soon as the Technical Assistance Visit (TAV) orientation is conducted in the province, the local bus drivers and conductors will finally be subjected to minimum wage pay.

This will be among the topics lined up for the TAV orientation on May 25 spearheaded by the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) – Southern Leyte in coordination with the Regional Tripartite Wages and Productivity Board (RTWPB).

“ As embodied in DOLE Department Order #113, the labor government agency in the province will implement the minimum wage pay among the bus drivers and conductors in the locality,” Valuis disclosed.

All bus operators based in the province shall be advised to observe the minimum wage pay scheme to their respective drivers and conductors, cutting off the current boundary system, she said

The minimum wage pay is set at P253 per day by RTWPB in the region, she said.

She further disclosed that the national government came about this minimum wage pay salary scheme for bus drivers and conductors due to escalating road accidents every year as drivers would racing against each other to get more passengers to reach their boundaries. (PIA 8, SoLeyte)
