2 hurt in ship explosion

Manila, Philippines – Two Filipino seafarers were injured in a sea vessel explosion in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) reported yesterday.

OWWA officer-in-charge Josefino Torres said they received information that Marianito Aguilon, 41, of Pallocan, Batangas suffered burns on 44 percent of his body and Guillermo Enriquez Jr., 23, of Mabini Batangas sustained similar injuries.

According to the OWWA, a gas tanker exploded June 18 while the vessel was sailing waters within the territory of Fujairah in the UAE. –Mayen Jaymalin The Philippine Star
