Vehicle sales grow 25% to 72,874 units in June

The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (Campi) said local vehicle assemblers have sustained their growth momentum as industry sales grew 25 percent to 72,874 units in June this year.

Because of the improved supply situation and stable economy in the country, sales have improved significantly. The local automotive industry continues to exceed monthly forecasts and perform better than expected because of these favorable situations.

On a year to date basis, Toyota Motor Philippines continues to lead the industry with 40 percent share of the market followed by Mitsubishi’s 23 percent and Honda with 8 percent.

Campi’s strong performance could not have come at a better time as the organization is gearing up to host the 4th Philippine International Motor Show on Aug. 16 to 19, 2012 at the World Trade Centre.

The event aims to highlight the automotive industry’s role in the economic development by providing transportation requirements. The motor show also intends to promote the automotive industry’s global environmental responsibility.

“For the month of June, the industry has once again posted strong numbers as Campi sales continue to increase its totals. Various manufacturers have recovered from the lack of supply and are able to fully serve customer demands. We are very pleased to end the first semester of the year on a high note. This is indeed a positive sign that the local automotive landscape as a whole is on track to recover lost sales opportunities from earlier in the year.

In addition to this, we would like to showcase our strong performance and kick start the second half of the year by holding the 4th Philippine International Motor Show (PIMS) on Aug. 16 to 19.

This event will also be a great avenue for the Filipino to see the latest vehicles that are available in the market today and in the near future,” Campi president Rommel Gutierrez said.  –Daily Tribune
