MANILA, Philippines—Makati is among Asia’s top cities with the “most promiscuous” men, according to a recently released online dating study.

The study, which involved 10,000 members of dating website SeekingArrangement.com, found that around three in every four men in Makati (77 percent) reported having more than five sexual partners per year.

Makati ranks third, next to the top two cities—Bangkok in Thailand and Osaka in Japan, where around four in every five men reported having more than five sexual partners in a year (83 percent and 80 percent, respectively).

In number one city Bangkok, 79 percent reported having four or more sexual partners annually, according to the study.

On the whole, the study said that 76 percent of men in Asia claim to have more than five sexual partners annually—lower than men in Europe and the US, who averaged seven or more partners in a year.

Hyderabad, Saigon

Following Makati is Hyderabad in India, where around three in every four (76 percent) reported having more than five sexual partners in a year. It is followed by Saigon in Vietnam (72 percent).

Around three in every five men reported having more than five sexual partners in a year in the cities of Seoul in South Korea (65 percent), Shanghai (58 percent) and St. Petersburg in Russia (57 percent).

Around half of men reporting from Singapore (53 percent) and Beijing in China (49 percent) claimed to have more than five sexual partners in a year.

The study also showed cities with “the least amount of promiscuity.” Kuala Lumpur in Malaysia topped that list, with two in every three saying they only had “two or more partners a year” (66 percent), followed by Hong Kong (61 percent) and Kyoto in Japan (53 percent).

Common misconception

“Asia is known for efficiency and discipline. There is a common misconception in the West that Asian men are not as promiscuous as Americans,” said Brandon Wade, CEO and Founder of SeekingArrangement.com.

“It is simply not true. Because of the fast-paced lifestyle in these cities, men are always looking to relieve stress. In a city where the market is constantly changing, so goes the dating pool,” he added.

Launched in 2006, SeekingArrangement.com, describing itself as the world’s largest “sugar daddy dating network,” pairs wealthy men with beautiful women who seek “mutually beneficial relationships.” It claims worldwide membership of more than 1.7 million members.
