When she left the presidency, nearly nine out of 10 Filipinos had access to health insurance, former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo said in a paper she wrote from October to December 2011.
Under her administration, “more than 100,000 new classrooms had been built [and] 9 million jobs had been created,” Arroyo said in the paper entitled, “It’s the economy, student.”
In the paper, which was distributed to media, Arroyo made references to Aquino’s achievements and to the fact that he was her student.
“No amount of black propaganda can erase the tangible improvements enjoyed by hundreds of thousands of families liberated from want during my decade at the helm of the nation,” Arroyo’s paper said. “But these accomplishments have simply been part of the continuum of history. The gains I achieved were built on the efforts of previous leaders. Each successive government must build on the successes and progress of the previous ones: advance the programs that work, leave behind those that don’t.”
Has Arroyo changed her mind about her student now that the Philippines received a credit upgrade for the first time in its history? –InterAksyon.com
