MANILA (2nd UPDATE) – Two construction workers were rushed to a hospital following an accident at the newly built SM Aura Premier mall in Taguig City on Tuesday.

The two workers, Percy Gozurin and Michael Laxa, were applying sealant between the mall’s first and second floor when the cables of the gondola carrying them snapped.

The two fell to the ground and sustained minor injuries.

In a statement, SM Regional Operations Manager Perkin So said the victims are working for contractor Aluform.

So also said one of the victims has been released from the hospital.

Aluform, meanwhile, confirmed the incident and said management is attending to its workers’ needs. — reports from Dennis Datu and Henry Atuelan, dzMM; Jenny Reyes, ABS-CBN News
