TUCP seeks P83 minimum wage hike in NCR

The Trade Union Congress of the Philippines (TUCP) has filed a petition for an P83 across-the-board minimum wage hike in Metro Manila.

The TUCP filed its petition on Friday during the first of a series of public consultations held by the Regional Tripartite Wage and Productivity Board.

Officials of TUCP explained that, based on its computations, a typical family of six needs more than P917 daily to survive, yet the current daily wage in Metro Manila is only pegged at P458.

The petition aims to bring the daily take home pay of workers to at least P541.

A second public consultation is scheduled for July 17, while the public hearing will be conducted on August 8. –Solar News
