Two workers died in a construction mishap Monday evening at the Iglesia ni Cristo’s Philippine Arena in Bocaue, Bulacan.

John Logarta and Peter Libaton fell as they were trying to remove a support in the dome, a witness told GMA News in a “24 Oras” report on Wednesday.

Libaton left behind his live-in partner and their one-year-old child, according to his brother Edgardo Libaton.

Logarta left behind his sister Meryl Mae, whose education he was paying for, said the report.

A third victim is in critical condition.

The arena’s contractor, Korean company Hanwha Engineering and Construction Corporation, has yet to issue a statement, the report said.

The families of the victims said they will not file charges against the company.

The Philippine Arena, which started construction in 2011, is scheduled to be completed in 2014, in time for the INC’s 100th anniversary. It is set to be the world’s largest dome. — Marc Jayson Cayabyab/BM, GMA News
