PNoy satisfaction rating drops 15 pts to ‘good’ in September – SWS

President Benigno Aquino III’s satisfaction scores dropped to “good” in September from “very good” in June, according to a new survey by pollster Social Weather Stations.

The survey conducted from September 20 to 23 showed 68 percent were satisfied with Aquino’s performance, with 19 percent dissatisfied, for a net rating of +49.

September’s satisfaction rating was 15 points below the +64, a “very good” rating, Aquino scored in June, the SWS noted.

At the time of the survey, followers of Moro National Liberation Front founding chairman Nur Misuari had tried to occupy parts of Zamboanga City, before they were eventually repelled by government forces.

Also, public outrage over the pork barrel scam continued in September.

The SWS noted this was the fourth time Aquino’s score dipped below +50 since assuming his post in 2010.

However, it was also noted that though Aquino registered a low “good” of +42 in May 2012, he rebounded in August that year with a +67 “very good.”

The SWS survey results were posted on the BusinessWorld website on Monday.

The SWS survey used face-to-face interviews of 1,200 adult Filipinos nationwide. Sampling error margins of ±3% for national and ±6% for area percentages applied to the survey.

Across all areas

The SWS said Aquino’s net satisfaction ratings fell across all areas, socioeconomic classes and gender, though never falling below a “good” rating.

Aquino suffered a 26-point decline in the Visayas, from +74 (excellent) to a mere +48 (good).

His score remained at “very good” +52 in Mindanao, and in Balance Luzon.

But the +52 in Mindanao was six points below his June score, and 15 points down his score in Balance Luzon in the second quarter.

His score in Metro Manila also declined to +38, or “good.”

Aquino’s rural net satisfaction fell to +52 (very good) from +70 (excellent).

His urban net satisfaction fell from a “very good” +57 to a “good” +47.

Economic class, gender

Aquino’s score fell by 20 points among the ABC socio-economic classes to a “very good” of +55 from an “excellent” +75 in June.

His net rating among among the D class fell by 10 points to +52 but was still in “very good” territory.

The class E rating bottomed at a record low of +39 (“good”), 29 points below the “very good” +68 three months earlier.

Meanwhile, among women, Aquino’s satisfaction rating was at +50 or “very good”, 13 points down from June.

Among men, his score was +48 (good), 16 points below that in June. — DVM, GMA News
