NPA rebels torch construction equipment in Sarangani

DAVAO CITY, Philippines – Suspected members of the communist New People’s Army torched at least 3 heavy equipment in a road construction in Malapatan town, Sarangani Province on Tuesday morning, January 14.

The rebels burned a backhoe, a grader and a road roller truck in Sitio Datal Bub in Barangay Daan Suyan, Capt. Alberto Caber, chief of the public information office of the military’s Easter Mindanao Command, said.

“The construction equipment are being used in the road construction as part of the developmental projects of the local government of Malapatan,” Caber said.

No casualties were reported from the incident.

Caber said state forces immediately launched a pursuit operation against the fleeing rebels. – Rappler.com
